The Dead South – Served Cold Tour
A rock band without a drummer, a bluegrass band without a fiddler. To the gentlemen of The Dead South, a self-styled string band from Regina, Saskatchewan, it’s about how, not what, you play. The Dead South’s combination of cello, mandolin, guitar and banjo has all the hallmarks of a group tuned to bygone times, yet The Dead South find distinctly modern bathos in this old time rigging.
The Dead South, with special guest The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, will be at the Meyer Theatre on Tuesday, August 9, 8 p.m. The two-time JUNO Award winning, gold certified acoustic group has headlined major rock clubs worldwide, sound-tracked modern dance pieces, been covered by William Shatner and approaches one million YouTube followers. Their hit, “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company,” can be heard on new seasons of Umbrella Academy and American Gods.
The band most recently released Served Live, a double live album, and Served Live Venue Bingo, a fundraising effort for live music support initiatives in Canada, the USA and UK.
