“Generations of Grandeur — Magnificent Masterpieces” – A show of beautiful masterpieces.

This evening will be special, said Mike Ajango, director of the Allouez Village Band. “We continue the celebration of our 35th anniversary season, and we’ve selected some of the most memorable pieces from several genres of music,” he said. “I know they will bring back special memories for people.”

The 75-member all-volunteer Allouez Village Band will be the stars of the show for the entire evening, said Ajango. “It will be their time to shine as we continue our ‘generations’ theme this 35th anniversary season,” he said.

The concert will open with “Triumphant Fanfare” by Richard Saucedo, followed by the moving selection  “Tribute (Based on ‘Quintet’) by Michael Kamen and arranged by John Moss.

The rousing “Galop” by Dmitri Shostakovich will be performed as will the band’s nod to St. Patrick’s Day with its rendition of “Danny Boy.”

“Farandole” by Georges Bizet celebrates French country dancing and the Scottish folk song “The Water is Wide” will be performed as will  “The Pines of Rome (Finale from ‘The Pines of the Appian Way’)” by Ottorino Respighi.

The concert concludes with the music of the Broadway show and movie hit “Les Miserables.”
